Sell, trade or retire your car: what to prepare

Start with what you want to do. You can sell your car, trade toward your next vehicle, or ask about a junk car. The next step is a simple vehicle review.

1. Choose your goal

Sell your car when you want an offer without shopping for a replacement. Trade your car when you want its reviewed value considered toward another vehicle; after the appraisal intake, you can explore current inventory. Junk or donate your car starts a different review for a vehicle with major damage, mechanical problems or little remaining use. You can ask about a cash offer without choosing donation.

Donation eligibility, charity arrangements and tax treatment must be confirmed before accepting a donated vehicle. The website does not promise a tax credit or a deduction. Ask the team for the actual program details when that option is available.

2. Share the condition honestly

Have the VIN, mileage and basic vehicle details ready. Tell us about warning lights, known mechanical problems, accidents and damaged areas. A clear explanation helps the team prepare a useful review and avoids surprises at the visit. The interactive damage map can identify panels that need attention; selecting damage does not create a binding offer.

If you choose a photo appraisal, take clear pictures of the front, rear, both sides, interior, dashboard, VIN and any damage. The upload checklist explains each angle. Show the actual vehicle and avoid adding filters that hide condition. Upload only the information requested in the private appraisal flow.

3. Upload photos or request a visit

Choose the photo path when it is convenient to start from your phone. Choose an in-person appraisal when you would rather bring the car to us. The team will review the information and confirm a time. A preliminary estimate may change after vehicle inspection, identity and ownership checks, and current market review.
